What is justice? According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, justice is “the maintenance or administration of what is just especially by the impartial adjustment of conflicting claims or the assignment of merited rewards or punishments.” Note that justice is suppose to be impartial. In other words, one needs to abide by an unbiased set of standards. Whose standards? Personal rules? The Constitution?
Christians believe that God, who is the creator and king of all things, has given people commands and principles that they must abide by, which are found in the Bible. Therefore, justice must be understood from a transcendent biblical standard. How can that be? How does justice relate to Christian apologetics? If you are interested to learn more, the Ambassadors Forum is hosting a Friday Forum this week titled “Biblical Standards for Justice.” Herb Grey, who is a Beaverton attorney and a member of the Oregon State Bar, will be presenting this talk.
