Feminism. Social oppression. Racism. No doubt that one has heard of these terms and others like it in today’s times. If you have heard of these terms, then you have come across critical theory, which is an ideology that relates to political and social structures. With recent events, such as the Black Lives Matter Movement, critical theory becomes very prominent as many people are drawn to its tenets and have posted on social media statements that align with critical theory.
The Ambassadors Forum has been involved in the discussion about critical theory as we analyzed its tenets through the lens of the Bible. We even hosted a Friday forum about critical theory at the beginning of 2020. The Ambassadors Forum will be continuing the conversation in this month’s virtual Friday Forum “A Deeper Dive Into Critical Theory: The New Pseudo-Religion” on August 21, 2020 at 7 PM. Our speaker, Neil Shenvi, will explain the basic tenets of contemporary critical theory as well as offer suggestions for Christians to engage with people who are influenced by critical theory.
